How fortunate are the few
who are loved by someone
that keeps their promises.
Even when no one is watching.
Even when no answers are expected.
Even when love changes its address.
Even when life asks them to walk away.
Even when their hands belong to another,
their heart still honours the words
it once gave.
Some promises outlive love.
Some outlive people.
