I caught a minute once and asked it why
It rushed past so fast, and it said with a sigh
I was the future once, now I'm the past
None of us minutes can ever last
You fill us with what you want, as we pass by
We carry what you did or didn't try
We're entangled with future minutes, they reflect us too
As you watch time pass, they bring it back to you
If you fill us with your goodness, your joy & laughter
That's what you'll find in those coming after
Your triumphs are in us, your smiles & tears we carry
I must leave you now, minutes cannot tarry
It escaped my grasp then, but looking back it said
Be careful what you fill us with - let there be no regret
