At dawn…

I walk barefoot on the grass

Wet with dew

And through my soles

My Bharat speaks

Of my people

Genetic memories emerge

The trials of my tribe

The saga of its survival

Through the ages

Against impossible odds

Powerful mantras echo

In every pore

Ancient seers come alive

And their wisdom

Timeless, sublime

Tells me, who I was

Who I am

My Land speaks, too

Of a mother's love,

A father's protection

A companions touch,

A brother's hug, a sister's smile

Through all my lives

And this one, too

I sit down, and unbidden,

Tears flow

A few sad, for what is lost

Most happy, for what lives

I look East,

As the sun rises.
