Dear Students,
Think...
Dear students, I write to you
To make you pause & think anew
You can't stand on the shoulders of giants
And think you're so tall
You can't fly on borrowed feathers
And think you'll never fall
You can't sing the songs of others
And think the applause is for you
You can't walk through your life
In someone else's shoe
You can't wear someone's halo
And say "it is mine!"
You can't keep telling yourself,
"It's my light in which I shine"
For that's what you do
When you spend your time
Worshipping celebrities
Who you consider sublime
But why spend your life
In counting the treasure of others?
The height & grace aren't yours
They're the measure of others
Wouldn’t it be better
If you learn from your betters
And dance your own dances
Freely, without fetters?
Wouldn’t it be better
If you tend the seed inside
Nurture your own tree high
And, on that, hang your pride?
Think.....
With best wishes,
Kishore Asthana
