They change and they can change you. At Kavishala, we’ve seen the power, a single story and poetry can have. In fact, when you work here, you see that happen every day. 2017, When I first time visited Jashn-e-rekhta event offline, this was the time when I saw literary event live first time. However, today everything is online, every event, every office is moving on the Internet. Because of Covid and Lockdown, the scope of offline events just ended. Everyone is hitting online and on social media. However, the fact is if we talk about Social Media and Internet, it plays an important role in promoting poetry and literature in a wider audience. In 2016 everyone was struggling for good platforms and platform where they can read, write and share but now we have many online websites and applications where we can read good literature, write and share our own writings.
Today is The 12th Global Social Media Day, and we can see the impact of social media in normal life. Even if we talk about the pandemic, social media was the main source of getting help and resources. By using social media responsibly, all of us have empowered ourselves to deal with the pandemic crisis, overcome situations and extend all possible help to the needy and affected. People helped to deliver beds, oxygen cylinders to the needy people in the hospital. Social media has the power to make or break your image. Not only known for making people famous overnight, but the various platforms also in gaining knowledge and also for communication. Not just youngsters, but the older generation, are becoming well-versed with how to send messages or video calls to their friends or family. Well, this is probably the reason why World Social Media day is celebrated year after year on June 30. Not just helping influencers to grow or for journalists to cover important news events, social media has helped a lot during the COVID-19 pandemic. Be it finding information about any medicine or helping patients to cope with the stress, everything was available with just a click apart.
I read the history, why we celebrate World Social Media day: It was first celebrated by Mashable on 30 June 2010 to put an accentuation on the effect of online media and its job in worldwide communication. The first online media, Sixdegrees, was started in 1997 and was established by Andrew Weinreich. The site allowed clients to list their loved ones and had different intriguing highlights like release sheets, school affiliations and profiles. It was closed down in 2001 after it gained 1,000,000 users.
We're trying to change the system and trying to make poetry and literature very easy to everyone. Kavishala is a one-stop platform for literary minds, where they can read, write, share, learn and earn. Power of social media is we're are reaching 30 Million Monthly reads on web platforms, Kavishala ig growing day by day with new versicles like Kavishala Skills, Kavishala Store, Kavishala Talks. The era has been changed, everything is moving online so why not we create a space for writers and poets. Kavishala is a portal which also arranges poet and writer meets on a regular basis aiming at keeping in touch with its writers and poets personally and being a guiding fellow, also gives opportunity to poets and writers in getting published with their partnering Print Media and in Kavishala’s books too. This portal has more than 1,00,000 poets connected and 10,00,000 plus poems and stories shared, as of now. It is a platform for Poets and writers where they can share and discuss their poetry and literature with their comrades and open for all languages Hindi, Urdu, English, Malayalam, Punjabi, Kannad, Tamil etcetera.
Power of Social Media and Digital Platforms:
Akib Javed is a teacher from the little-known town of Bisanda Buzurg in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district. He is a computer science graduate. And he is also a poet, mostly writing on social issues. Today, his poems have reached readers across the country though he has not published any book yet.
In Bihar’s Begusarai, homemaker Neelu Choudhary has penned hundreds of poems in the last few years. Her writings too have not been compiled into a book so far but the poetry has found readership throughout India through Kavishala, an online platform for new as well as veteran poets and writers to share their creations.
