In April: Actor Sonu Sood has offered his hotel in the city for the healthcare workers, including doctors, nurses and the paramedical staff, for stay as they battle the coronavirus pandemic. He said it's important for everyone to stand strongly with the medical staff across the country, who are the "real heroes" of the fight against COVID-19.
"It's my honour to be able to do my bit for the doctors, nurses and para medical staff of our country who have been working day and night to save the lives of millions in the country. I'm really happy to open the doors of my hotel for these real time heroes,"
Now last week he arranged buses for migrants after obtaining special permissions from the Uttar Pradesh government. He also organised multiple bus services for workers travelling to Karnataka from Maharastra. Several people from Maharashtra as well as other states tweet to Sonu frequently asking for his help to travel home. He responds to almost every tweet and asks people for their details so that he can proceed with the permissions and paperwork required for sending them home.
He is reply to Every single needy person: Twitter
He recently wrote a poetry, Poora Bharat Ek Saath Hai. A Heartfelt Poem Is An Ode To Those Affected By COVID-19.
Few lines are here:
माना घनी रात है,
इस रात से लड़ने के लिए पूरा भारत एक साथ है.
तेरी कोशिश मेरी कोशिश रंग लाएगी,
फिर उसी भीड़ का हिस्सा होंगे.
बस सिर्फ़ कुछ दिनों की बात है.
माना घनी रात है, मगर पूरा भारत एक साथ है.
When I see these migrants and all those who are suffering, I feel that we have lost the respect of being a human. I can't sleep properly in the night because the thoughts keep coming in my mind. The entire day I am reading emails, noting down their phone numbers, trying to call them. There are hundreds of them. I wish I could drive them personally to their villages day and night and reunite them with their families.
They are the real face of India who have worked hard to build our houses. They have left their homes, their parents, their loved ones and worked so hard just for us. Today, if we are not there to support them, I think we don't have any rights to call ourselves human beings. We have to come forward and help them with the best of our abilities. We can't leave them on the streets, we can't see them dying on the highways, we can't let those little children walking with them think that there is no one for their parents,
Apart from sending migrants home, also launched a food initiative and donated 1500 PPE kits to doctors across Punjab.
Kudos and respect Sir!
We salute all FIGHTERS who are working relentlessly for the people of the Nation.
Let us do more!!
