Panchayat Season 4 Review: A Gentle Revolution in Phulera
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
In a television landscape brimming with high-octane drama and fast-paced thrillers, Panchayat continues to be that rare show which invites you to slow down and simply feel. Now in its fourth season, the beloved series remains rooted in its small-town simplicity, offering a slice-of-life narrative where the real magic lies in the mundane. This season, while not as fresh as the earlier ones, still has enough warmth, humour, and heart to keep its audience engaged and smiling.
Familiar Faces, Familiar Lanes
By now, fans of Panchayat are well-acquainted with the village of Phulera – the dusty lanes, the Panchayat office with its iconic water tank, and the idiosyncratic personalities that inhabit its world. From Pradhan Pati (Raghubir Yadav) to the quietly observing Sachivji (Jitendra Kumar), and from the loyal Vikas (Chandan Roy) to the ever-hopeful Rinki (Sanvikaa), the characters feel like family. The nostalgia hits right from the opening scene.
Season 4 doesn’t aim to reinvent the wheel. Instead, it banks on the comfort of the known – the banter, the bureaucracy, the village politics, and of course, the slow-burning romance between Abhishek and Rinki.
Election Time in Phulera
This season unfolds during the heated local elections and the anxious wait for Abhishek’s MBA results – two threads that bind the episodes together. As usual, Panchayat strikes a delicate balance between silly political games and deeply human moments. Whether it’s Bhushan playing the victim card in a toilet dispute or Binod being guilt-tripped over a rival’s laddoo, the drama never loses its comic undertone.
A key strength of the show continues to be its dialogues – sometimes playful, often snarky, but always in good taste. Lines like “hum gareeb hai, gaddar nahin” feel both timely and timeless.
The Heart of the Series
If there’s one thing that consistently defines Panchayat, it’s loyalty. This season reaffirms that theme at every turn – the unwavering allegiance of the Sachiv to Manju Devi and her family, the bond between Prahlad and Brijbhushan, and the new dynamics forming between Abhishek and Rinki
