RETIREMENT

I get up on time to get ready

Wife brings breakfast already.

Office car is made available every day

To reach office and return home per se.

Raju is the person who drives

He is at it for the last two years.

As I enter the office staff wish me

I reciprocate with a nod and a smile.

On my table a stand lists what to do

I plan time to execute work through.

Manju is there to bring beverages

And at my command do errands.

There is a surprise party one day

They remind it's my birthday.

I am told it's my last day to stake

I am given bouquet with handshake.

I enter my cabin and recall

All projects I managed so far.

I worked for thirtyfour years

This was my last year of service.

Tears well up in my eyes

Nobody behind to watch me surmise.

Manju packs my personal belongings

Tapes the carton and bid goodbyes.

I pick carton to leave office alone

I have to return home on my own.

I get up on time and get ready

Wife reminds I don't need to from today.
