The camera followed Dilip Kumar like a star
stuck fan
As tributes flow in for Dilip Kumar the iconic
actor who was a Guru for the likes of
Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and
Aamir Khan it is pathetic to find small minds
focussing on non-issues like why a Yusuf
Khan was forced to change his name to Dilipu Kumar.

These pedlars of hate do not have time to
focus on one of the most outstanding love
stories of our times where a reigning beauty
queen Saira Banu at the peak of her acting
career fell head over heels in love with a mand double her age. She was 22 and he was 44 ath that time.
Siara Banu not only married him but became his ears and eyes and his Soulmate for 54 years when in the end he was unable tor recognize anyone, probably not even her.
This marriage was not without its ups and
downs. In 1981 Dilip married Asma Rehman
but that lasted only two years.

Dilip Kumar was to say later" Well, the one the episode in my life that I would like to forget and which we, Saira and I have pushed into eternal oblivion is a grave mistake I made
under pressure…![]()
Saira said somewhere that she watched
Mughal-e- Azam 36 times. She was not the
only one. According to reports, there were
near riots at Mumbai's ”Maratha Mandir” studio where fans waited in queues for days to get tickets with family members getting them food from home. The police had to intervene finally when the crowds touched the 100,000 number.
But Mughal e Azam was only one of the hits
of Dilip Kumar where he mesmerized
audiences by his acting.
In an era where he was pitted against the greats like Ashok Kumar, Dev Anand, Raj Kapoor each with their own brand of mannerisms and fans Dilip stood out as the only ” nonactor”.
To me, he was just an ordinary man walking, talking, standing, looking far away, picking up a flower to brush it against the cheeks of a shy Madhulbala, bashing up villains, singing Bhajans or raising the morale of Indians by singing full-throated songs like ”; Yeh Desh hai veer jawanon ka”, the camera was just following him like a star-struck fan.
